How to install and run WinBUGS on Mac OS X

Launch Wineskin and click the little plus icon under engines. Select the engine you wish to download and install under available engines and click download and install. Install a custom engine created by someone else. If there is a installer click install If there isn't follow these instructions 1. Download Wineskin and double click. Click on Create New Blank Wrapper and give it a name. It takes a minute or so for the wrapper to make itself. Now that makes the wrapper. Download Wineskin. Acquire Touhou gamefiles. Launch Wineskin Winery, select appropriate engine to create a new wrapper. Enter the created wrapper. Follow the instructions and select Copy from Folder, installing the game into the wrapper. Adjust some settings as described above, and you’re all set. IMPORTANT UPDATES (3 Feb 2013).

a. Click “Wineskin Winery … (click me to download)”
b. Click “Save File” to accept the Wineskin Winery app
c. Find the .zip file in your Downloads folder and click on it to expand (unzip) it
d. The Winery app should now appear (red icon)
e. Click on the Winery app to open it - Download the WinBUGS.exe file from the MRC website

b. If the .txt file opens, save it, too - Configure your Wineskin app
a. Go to your opened Wineskin app, click on the + to install an engine
b. Click “Download and Install” to get the most recent engine
c. Click “OK” at the dialog box
d. Click “Update” to update Wineskin, and “OK” at the dialog box
e. Click “Create New Blank Wrapper” to do exactly that
f. Type in WinBUGS to name your new wrapper
g. Allow Wineskin to accept incoming network connections
h. Click “Install” at the Wine Mono Installer
i. Click to view wrapper in Finder
j. Drag your WinBUGS wrapper to your Applications folder
k. Click on the WinBUGS wrapper to open in - Install WinBUGS in Wineskin
a. Click on “Install Software”
b. Click “Choose Setup Executable”
c. Select the WinBUGS14.exe file from your Downloads folder
d. The WinBUGS installation wizard will now open; click “Next>” until installation is complete, then click “Finish”
e. Wineskin will ask you which executable file to use, select WinBUGS14.exe and click “OK” - Run WinBUGS
a. Click on your WinBUGS wrapper in your Applications folder to open WinBUGS
8. To add the key and patch to WinBUGS, follow the directions in each .txt file

Many pieces of software used for astronomy do not have equivalents that can be used by those of us running OSX on macintosh computers. I have made a few wineskin wrapped versions of the software that I am currently using and I have made them available here for you.
You must first download Wineskin Winery and install it.
You can then wrap Software such as Registax and AutoStakkert so that they will run almost seamlessly in OSX. If you want to skip this step, you still need to install wineskin winery, but you can use the wineskin wrapped versions of Registax and AutoStakkert that I’ve prepared below. They are currently running without issue on OSX 10.10.
Download Registax 6.1.0.8 packaged in Wine for OSX.
Download AutoStakkert 2.3.0.21 packaged in Wine for OSX. This wrapper has the windows ffmpeg executables already installed that will allow you to import .mov files without having to transcode them.
